Admissions Writing Exercise

As part of the application to Georgetown University in Qatar, a writing exercise is required. The exercise is an hour-long session during which applicants will be asked to write a short response to a prompt.

The writing exercise does not require advanced knowledge or preparation on any particular topic. The Admissions Committee will review the essay for logic, grammar, syntax, sentence structure, etc. The exercise simulates a routine experience in which students are asked to share written work in a class.

The writing exercise is an electronic/typewritten exercise. Applicants are expected to complete the exercise online. Further instructions will be sent via email. Please add sfsqadmissions@georgetown.edu to your safe senders list to avoid missing any important emails.

You may not use external sources to support your writing exercise. In other words, use of google or other online search engines or physical books or resources available on the internet or elsewhere to support your writing is strictly not allowed. The writing exercise should be 100% your own work and should not use any outside or external resources.

Writing exercise times are recorded in Arabian Standard Time (local time in Qatar). It is your responsibility to check the writing exercise start time in your time zone. Click here for a helpful Time Zone Converter tool.
